2014 LOOK 675 Light Bike Ultegra 11 Di2 (WHITE)

Season:2014

Always willing to push the design and integration envelope and never a company to build for the sake of building - Look have developed the 675 for the majority of riders: racers and enthusiasts alike.

Taking its design lead from the flagship 695 and using completely new design processes, the aim of the 675 is to cater for the century rider and racer using cutting edge technology but with a more comfortable ride when compared to the out-and-out race feel of the 695: and without the price tag.

The new manufacturing processes developed by Look for the 675 and 675 Light centre on producing a stronger, more accurate yet comfortable ride. As is the case with much of what Look do, the focus is on integration and innovation in order to achieve their aim. Like the new 695 Light and 695 Aerolight, the 2014 model uses a higher modulus 1.5K carbon fibre to help reduce weight. In addition the Bottom Bracket and Headtube have been 'de-mechanized' and are now 100% Carbon while the fork also has full carbon dropouts. The weight saving is huge at over 250g, dropping the frame weight to just 990g and at the same time LOOK have maintained the rigidity, compliance and vibration absorption of the previous 675.

The frame of the 675 Light is similar to the 695 Light in that it utilises CFD (Continuous Fibre Design) a process that uses the fibres in orientations that maximise their mechanical performance with fewer joins. Fewer joins means fewer weak spots and an increase in stiffness in the frame. For the 675 though, Look have developed MONOBLOC frame construction whereby the 3 most loaded areas of the frame are first draped over mandrels before being introduced the rest of the frame in the mould. This process yields a frame with significant gains in both strength and stiffness. The adoption of a BB 86.5 press-fit bottom bracket further improves the lateral rigidity of the frame to increase power transfer at the crank whilst simultaneously offering a better protected bearing, more attractive finish and a cheaper solution than the Z-Crank found on the 695.

Despite the increased stiffness the 675 Light is remarkably compliant and comfortable over long rides. This is a result, not only of their Dual Comfort and Stiffness Concept (DCSC2) which provides a 25% difference between vertical and horizontal stiffness through the broadening of tube shapes without increasing their diameter; but also through a geometry that increases the height of the head tube for more comfortable riding positions (the front of the bike mirrors the geometry of the 566 sportive frame) and a fork that dampens vibration. The use of a standard seatpost further enhances the vibration absorption for improved comfort. The goal is to create a frame with the perfect balance of compliance and rigidity.

The most significant and most obvious difference with the 675 Light’s design is the integration of the stem in what Look call their Direct Drive Concept. This is the first time a stem has been completely integrated into the design of a road frame. The extremely short and tapered head tube uses oversized bearings and in conjunction with the integrated A-Stem provides a stiffer and more precise cockpit. In addition, the A-stem allows for accurate height and length adjustment without the need to use spacers which further adds to the clean lines and unique aesthetic.

The 675 Light is a very striking yet clean looking bike but it is the ride that does the most talking. Similar in response to its big brother the 695 Light, the 675 Light has a decidedly racy feel with pin-point handling that inspires confidence combined with excellent acceleration. With that said, the more relaxed geometry similar to that of the 566 sportive bike offers a comfortable position that keeps the rider fresh and content over long distances or poor road surfaces. The unique styling may initially trouble some but it definitely grows on you – to the point at which you wonder why it hasn’t been done before. The inimitable style is matched by the quality of finish to give a machine that looks exceptional.

The 675 Light is available in 4 sizes from S to XL. Like the 695 models it is Di2 and EPS ready with the battery able to be mounted inside the seapost. This version is equipped with Shimano's new 6800 series 11 Speed Ultegra Di2 electronic componentry and is finished with Mavic Aksium wheels. Why Aksiums? LOOK recognise that many will want to upgrade or already have a better wheel and at the very least the Aksiums will serve as a great training wheel.

Comfortable with a sporting heart and striking looks, the 675 Light will be the perfect bike for a huge cross section of riders.

PLEASE NOTE: IMAGE IS FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. Bike is supplied with Mavic Aksium Wheels. Upgrades available: Please get in touch for details.
