700 was opened in the summer of 2011 with one goal in mind; helping all road riders from all aspects of the sport furnish their passion with all the advice and equipment they may need. At 700 we believe that whether you are in it to win or simply to enjoy the sport, everything starts with fit and to this end offer bike fitting services to help you optimise your position on the bike,  to minimise the risk of injury and to get the best performance and comfort from your riding.

At 700 we are looking to present the products we stock in their best light; each run of items is given its own space and is never pushed into a corner. Online each product where appropriate is given it’s own in-depth description written by us and photographed in order to best display it’s characteristics and to give you a feeling of what the product would be like if you were to actually touch it. We have tried very hard to pick our brands and products carefully in order to keep our range of products limited to those which firstly fulfill their purpose superbly and secondly offer what we feel is the best choice at each price point. Everything you find on our shelves will have been endorsed by one or another of us and it would not have made it there if we were unable to see its value.

We feel that every customer should have the same exceptional level of service; we want you to be able to draw from our many years of experience both in the bicycle industry and out on the road. Between us we ride thousands of miles every week, some of us as endurance or pleasure riders and others of us who enjoy racing and pushing our physical limits. We all expect our kit to echo our needs and style. Invariably you will be able to find a kindred spirit at 700; somebody who rides in a similar fashion and finds an analogous value in their cycling. Whether looking for your first road bike or seeking some serious hardware to maximise your competitive edge we want you to feel as if you have been given the best advice throughout your purchase and that you have ended up with a bike that suits your specific requirements.

Recent seasons have seen a growing desire for individuality and custom products and we understand that dream bikes should be as individual as you; from geometry to finish. To this end we are continually broadening our range to include more niche brands like Nevi Titanium, Alchemy and Sarto in order to bring you fully customisable options when it comes to your hardware.

If you are looking to broaden your cycling experience we have an associated cycling club with a diverse spectrum of riders and abilities and 700 run numerous cycling holidays and training camps in the Costa Blanca during the year, so you can experience new roads, fantastic climbs and stunning scenery, fully guided and supported.

Product description

Season : 2015
Code : VARCM2446BLK
Weight : 0KG

The Cannondale CAADX is in many ways a derivation of the popular Cannondale CX9, a ‘cross version of the CAAD9. The CX9 was an out and out ‘cross racer. Used by Jeremy Powers amongst others on the professional circuit, the geometry was very similar to that of the carbon Cannondale SuperX, the ride was firm and direct and the handling precise if not a little twitchy.

Equally it is in many ways unique due to the alterations in geometry and ride feel. The recently re-designed CAAD X is a supremely versatile bike with racing heritage and CAAD 10 & Super X inspired tube profiles and SAVE stays but with a slightly more upright position and built-in functionality in the form of rack and mudguard mounts. The addition of disc brakes makes this a supremely versatile machine. Perfect for the gruelling winter months either on the road for training or off-road in the ever growing Cyclocross race scene.

Cyclocross has seen something of a resurgence over the past couple of years. Roadies and mountain bikers alike seem to have realised that ‘cross bikes not only open the door to a great deal of fast-paced enjoyment off road but are also the ideal commuter or winter trainer. The Cannondale CAADX is a direct response to this vein of thinking; the frame is drilled for a rack and the geometry is completely different to the previous iteration in order to cater for the rider who doesn’t necessarily want to ride exclusively off road. This means that the head tube is longer and the angle upon it slacker than the racier SuperX, providing slightly more stable and predictable handling. Racers may find that this doesn’t allow them to get as low and over the bars as they would like but with the removal of a few spacers from below the stem this position is easily emulated.

The gearing too is trying to be something for all; the 46/36 tooth chainset offers a good spread of gears that will encourage the rider to spin efficiently on the road whilst offering some easier options for climbing off road. The tyres on the 2015 models are Schwalbe’s Sammy Slicks which offer a solid ride on hard packed or frozen off road surfaces and are not too sluggish on the road too; great if your commute features mixed terrain.

The tubing is all fluid formed, as is made clear by the flowing shapes and the smooth ride. Cannondale have used their proprietary double-pass welding technique which offers a smoother finish as well as eliminating stress risers and weak points found in traditional welds. The BB30 bottom bracket grants the frame a snappy, direct feel without being too harsh underfoot, this is contributed to by the design of the rear end which uses Cannondale’s hourglass SAVE stays in order to promote comfort with efficiency and in combination with the carbon Ultra X Fork makes for a very stable and smooth ride feel.

The 2015 CAAD X SORA is equipped with a 9 speed Shimano SORA groupset coupled with an FSA VERO Cross Crank - it is the only model in the range not to employ the BB30 system and this helps to keep costs down and make the bike more accessible to the commuter market. Promax Render R disc brakes handle the stopping while remaining free of mud when the trail gets sticky. The CAAD X Sora is available in seven sizes from 44 through 61 so should suit just about everyone. We would however advise going down a size from your road bike as typically of ‘cross bikes the standover height is taller thanks to a higher Bottom Bracket for off-road obstacle clearance.

CAADX Geometry

Technical Information

TECHNOLOGIES

  • Relaxed Race Geometry
The CAADX has a slightly taller head tube and slightly slacker head tube angle than the SuperX, providing a more upright position and stable handling.
  • SAVE Stays
The flattened shape and refined butting of the stays offer significant vertical compliance for comfort and control over rough surfaces, while remaining laterally rigid for solid power transfer and confident handling.
  • Smooth Welds
A true smooth weld, rather than the sand, putty, and paint “smooth welds” of our competition. Cannondale’s trademark double-pass smooth weld technology eliminates the stress-risers and weak points found on traditionally-welded frames, enabling us to build lighter, stronger frames.
  • Taper-Butted Tubes
Like the legendary CAAD frames of the past, the CAADX features 6061 aluminum which has been taper-butted and heat-treated to a T6 hardness. The smooth transitions provided by taper-butting eliminate the internal stress risers of traditionally-butted frames, again allowing a lighter, stronger frame.
  • Full Rear Rack/Fender Mount and Front Fender Mounts
Rack and fender compatibilty makes the CAADX ready for duty as a fast commuter or winter training rig.
  • Disk brake equipped
The top model comes with disk brakes for all-weather power and control.
