2019 Bianchi Aria DISC Ultegra : A3 Black / Matt Grey / Celeste

Season:2019

Brand:Bianchi

Code:YOB9DI

The Bianchi ARIA Disc is a fast performance-oriented aero road bike. Built for lovers of speed, it is the perfect partner for your road challenges. The addition of Disc brakes to the range makes for greater confidence in all conditions with the additional benefit of improved stiffness at the axle for even greater handling.

Bianchi's objective has been to extend their range of aero road bikes with an all-new model based on a highly aerodynamic frame-fork system, equipped for any road race, and easily set-up for triathlon events. Borrowing, like the Oltre before it from the Aquilla TT frame and extensive wind-tunnell testing with the pros, the Aria brings these aero technologies into an affordable realm.

FULL AERO

To achieve true speed from full aerodynamic performance it is important that both the bike and the rider are as aerodynamically efficient as possible. At Bianchi, the results and developments from research and development across all ranges are fed into new models and the ARIA’s advanced aerodynamic design has been heavily inspired by extensive wind-tunnel testing and cooperation with Bianchi pro riders.

For the bike, full aerodynamic performance means the shape of the tubes’ profiles and their structural combination to cheat the wind’s resistance, resulting in the lowest drag possible.

For the rider, full aerodynamic performance means creating a position that allows for the least air resistance – this can only be achieved with a frame and fork geometry that allows for an advanced tuck position, and an ideal racing geometry. With these two fundamental principles married together it is possible to achieve what Bianchi describe as Full Aero.
Like most performance-focused bikes these days, the Aria Disc comes with a tapered head tube/fork steerer – the upper bearing is 1 1/8in, the lower is 1 1/4in – and there's no lack of steering stiffness. The bike is both stable and fun, its confident handling is evident through tight corners, giving enough confidence to attack them at speed rather than backing off to allow for imprecision.

The stack and reach of the Aria Disc are exactly the same as those of the rim brake model. This race geometry is very similar to the high-end Oltre XR4 and Specialissima. So, if you are looking for a sharp handling bike able to quickly react to attacks on the 'club' run or obstacles in the road, but you're budget conscious, then the Aria is for you.  One of the ways that Bianchi have trimmed the price is through the noticeable absence of Coutervail. While this firms the ride, the issue is mitigated by the use of 28mm tyres from Vittoria - and as I'm sure you're all aware by now - wider tyres run at marginally lower pressures will offer greater comfort that engineering alone struggles to replicate; there's no sacrifice in speed either, so it's a win-win.
It was Bianchi's goal to create the Aria not only as a stand alone road race bike, but something that could be used for multi-sport events. As well as an effective high performance road machine, the Bianchi Aria demonstrates this versatility when it comes to triathlon. The Aria's aggressive geometry lends itself perfectly to the high-speed race performance demanded in tri events.

Getting the required horizontal-back, aerodynamic tuck position for a fast bike leg is easy to achieve with Aria’s triathlon configuration. Just clip-on aero bars, set the bars’ stack height if required and adjust saddle height and angle, and Aria instantly becomes triathlon ready.

Road or Tri, the Aria is ready to help you deliver your best.
