2021 Cannondale SuperSix Evo NEO 2 Di2 Electric Carbon Road Bike Grey

At first glance, you would be foriven for thinking that the new SuperSix Evo NEO was 'just another SuperSix' - and therin lies the beauty of Cannondale's latest Electric bike. In fact, that's pretty much how the bike was launched at the dealer show. At the time, the Neo was embargoed and little fuss was made of it, they were dotted around the showroom at Renault Sport HQ amongst the 'normal' SuperSix and - to the distributor's point - most in the room mistook them for their traditional counterparts.

The SuperSix Evo NEO is entirely a SuperSix Evo - it just has a motor and a battery in it. It really is as simple as that. It would be pointless for me to regurgitate what I have already written about the latest SuperSix Evo - everything you need can be found in the blog hereand everything is relevant to the NEO version of this impressive road bike.

To keep it brief : ultimately the SuperSix Evo and by extension, the NEO benefit from truncated aero tubing profiles for aero gains that are augmented with system integration - from internally routed handlebar and stem (Neo 2 and 1 - upgradable on the 3) to wheel design and selection. All the while, weight is kept to a minimum and revised seatstay positioning enhances comfort with revised geometries opening up the model to a broader spectrum of riders. All these gains have not been at the expense of the SuperSix's legendary handling either - the nimble, racy, yet stable handling alloiws the rider to push themselves without the bike ever causing you to check or second guess yourself - the mark of a great. Developed in tandem, the SuperSix Evo NEO shares all the same design elements as the non-electric version and the only marked difference to the frameset is the slightly deeper downtube that houses the battery - even then it is only around 1cm deeper and smaller than many other brands' non-electric road bikes. Cannondale have worked hard to reduce the footprint of the Electric elements and the SuperSix Evo NEO is the lightest electric road bike currently available.

So then, The SuperSix Evo NEO uses the incredibly popular and intuitive (with use it gets really simple) eBikeMotion drive system (with associated App) that employs a 250w motor in the rear hub. This not only delivers considerable power but does so without compromising the aesthetic of the bike. It also allows the rider to remove the motor by way of replacing the rear wheel and as such removes weight so that the rider can use their SuperSix more like a 'normal' road bike - if and when they want to. In combination with the lightweight and slim 250w battery that resides in the enlarged downtube, the ebikemotion system delivers 3 levels of assist : 30, 60 and 100% up to 25kph and is there when you need it and almost imperceptible when you don't. The simple, integrated top tube controller does everything; from turning the system on, selecting your assist level or checking battery charge. This makes control simple while keeping your handlebars clear of bulky and - often clunky - control units.

Available in 4 specifications from the all-singing, all-dancing SuperSix Evo NEO 1 with Dura Ace Di2 Hydro with KNOT 45 Wheels and full Save Systembar cockpit, through the new for 2021 Shomano Ultegra Di2 Equipped Neo 2 UDi2; the Shimano Ultegra Hydro equipped NEO 2 that uses the SystemBar and Knot stem but that forgoes the carbon wheels, right down to one of the best value e-road bikes we've seen, the Neo 3.
