The ‘Battle of the Bridge’ never materialised yesterday but it was a nervy finale with a fair amount of crashes. Yves Lampaert ceded the Yellow Jersey in favour of teamwork which paid dividends as his teammate Fabio Jakobson took an emotional win and justified Quickstep’s decision to leave Cav back home.

Today’s stage should, in theory, follow the script. Flat, fast bunch sprint. We will almost certainly see Magnus Cort try and get into the break to keep the Polka Dot Jersey on home soil.
With the route following the coastline there is always a risk of crosswinds but it is unlikely to play a major role today.

It’s difficult to look past Fabio Jakobson as outright favourite for today’s win with Wout Van Aert hot on his heels but who knows, this is the Tour De France and riders will risk everything for a stage win.
