It’s time to catch our breath after the action from the last two days in the Alps.

Today will be a “flat” stage covering 192km and traversing two Cat 3 and one Cat 2 climb. The intermediate sprint point is almost exactly halfway at 101km however it seems that most teams other than Jumbo have given up on pursuing these as Wout Van Aert has a stranglehold on the Green Jersey leading by 154 points

Another day for a solo Wout effort?

There are a lot of teams that are still looking for something to take away from this Tour and the days to do it are numbered. Smaller teams will very likely throw the kitchen sink at making the break stick whilst the sprinters’ teams will try and control the break as most of the big men should be able to haul themselves over the last big climb about 45km from the finish.

We expect it to go down to a sprint, the break will get a reasonable gap after which the teams of the big sprinters will take up the chase.
Quickstep, Bike Exchange and Lotto all have some fast men that will be looking to take the stage.
