Time to catch our breath.

Yesterday can only be described as EPIC!

Proper racing – in every respect.

Jonas Vingegaard showed that he is beyond worthy of the Yellow Jersey and at the same time went a long way to winning the hearts of millions with his show of sportsmanship waiting for Tadej Pogacar after his crash on the final descent of the day.

Wout Van Aert furthered his reputation as the most complete rider by almost getting himself into the Polka Dot Jersey evoking flash backs to his compatriot Eddy Merckx.

Flat.

Today is a flat run northward towards Paris, the only potential issue could have arisen from crosswinds but a quick look at the weather shows that there is a very small likelihood of that becoming an issue.

The sprinters have bought their tickets for today’s stage through blood, sweat and tears over the last two weeks. There is virtually no chance that the breakaway will be successful today. I have been proven wrong a lot in this tour but will be surprised if that is the case today. We will likely have a good old bunch sprint, resplendent with colour coded lead-out trains and break-neck speeds.

Who will be victorious today? Hard to say but I think it will be down to the big three, Fabio Jakobsen, Dylan Groenewegen and Caleb Ewan. There is of course the chance that Wout Van Aert can gate crash their party as he has so often done.

Fabio Jakobsen
