Workshop

At 700, we have a fully equipped workshop and our highly trained and experienced mechanics are on hand to handle your servicing needs. Below is a breakdown of our services and a guide to booking a service at 700, from what to expect on the day to rates and timeframes.

You can book through the site or get in touch to discuss your specific requirements.

Your bike is a machine and like all machines, regular maintenance is the key to optimal performance and enjoyment.

Whether there is an evident problem or not - regular maintenance ensures safe and optimal operation. Prevention is better (and cheaper!) than cure and servicing will prolong the life of your bike and give you many more problem free and enjoyable miles out on the road...

Here at 700 we have a fully appropriated workshop, our mechanics are CYTECH qualified and have many years of experience under their belts. They are versed in Campagnolo EPS, Shimano Di2 and SRAM eTap electronic / wireless systems.

We service any and all types of bike and we would be happy to help you keep yours in top condition.

If you wish to book Workshop time then please either call us on 01753 858777 or email us at workshop@7hundred.co.uk.

On the day

We kindly ask that, where at all possible your bike is in store no later than 10:00 on the day of your service. If necessary you may bring your bike in on an earlier date and leave it with us.

One of the service team will go through an initial assessment to better understand your requirements and offer guidance on any potential parts so as to streamline the works and get the bike back to you asap. We will do our utmost to have your bike ready to ride by the end of the day - subject to the availability of spares.

Additional Parts:

Our initial assessment will give an idea of requirements and we will always contact you prior to the installation of any necessary, additional parts and will not continue with any work until we have spoken to you first. Please ensure we have up-to-date contact details for you.

Deposit:

A £50.00 deposit will be taken to secure a workshop booking and will be deducted from your final bill.

The deposit is non-refundable if your appointment is cancelled within 48 hours of the day of your workshop booking.

Things to note:

  • If we have to clean your bike, you will incur a £15 cleaning charge
  • Any worn/broken/replaced parts will be disposed of unless otherwise requested.
  • We would ask you to collect your bike within a week of it being serviced or repaired. We reserve the right to charge for storage if bikes are not collected within a reasonable time.

Workshop charges

Given the increasing variety and varying complexities of modern bikes, the only fair way to charge for servicing is to base it on time.

All servicing is now billed at £60 per hour to the nearest 15 minutes

For each fixed service, 700 will plant a tree to offset our carbon footprint and you will be issued with a certificate stating where your tree is planted.

Our service rates are labour costs only, parts are not included. Our initial assessment will give an idea of requirements and we will always contact you prior to installation of any additional necessary parts, so please ensure we have up to date contact details for you.

Please note:

  • Any worn/broken/replaced parts will be disposed of unless otherwise requested.
  • We would ask you to collect your bike within a week of it being serviced or repaired.
  • We reserve the right to charge for storage if bikes are not collected within a reasonable time.
  • Our fixed service charges are representative of the time time taken to complete stated works, there are instances when additional time is required (eg. certain headset/disc brake integrations, badly corroded/seized or particularly dirty parts, power tool requiremnets or a combination!) In such cases any labour time over and above the allotted, will be billed at our standard rates.
  • Regular maintenance reduces the chances of future jobs escalating as outlined above.
  • While we ensure parts are installed per manufacturers settings and guides, after fixed services you may experience settling - if you need a tweak within the first 2 weeks of picking your bike up, just drop it in.
  • It is worth remembering that Warranty on new products is likely conditional to regular routine maintenance. For example, the likes of Campagnolo (up to 4 year warranty), CeramicSpeed (up to 6 years) and Chris King, stipulate this.

Depending on your bike and its age, you may require new bar tape as part of the process of servicing. If you have specific requirements please let us know. Replacement of bar tape at regular intervals reduces corrosive damage from sweat and the elements and helps to maintain the integrity of all metals (shifter clamps, alloy bars). This is of even greater importance when using your bike indoors.

Trees Planted

At 700 we plant a tree for every fixed-service undertaken in our workshop - that is any Silver, Gold or Platinum service. We believe that the reward in restoring our environment through re-forestation and enhancing the places we ride with enrichment, both in flora and the subsequent fauna it invites, is the best possible way to give back.

For your part, nothing changes, there's no cost to you. You simply book your service, we do the work and on a monthly basis we will buy a tree for each service. The Future Forest Company then plant these on your behalf, in one of several sites in the UK.

So, when you service you bike with 700, you are also contributing to the restoration of habitats and the reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, doesn't it!

SILCA CHAIN HOT WAXING

The Silca Hot Wax optimisation service is designed to deliver the performance and longevity benefits of Silca's market leading cleaning and lubrication technologies.

Using similar processes as employed by the pros, our chain wax treatments use dedicated ultrasonic tanks: one for deep cleaning and chain prep using Silca's ChainStripper & Wax Prep, and a second for deep penetration of Silca's Secret Blend Hot Melt Wax - the fastest treatment for chains available today.

Beyond the significant power savings (Up to 8Watts), using this treatment regularly will ensure a much longer life of your drive train, reduce cleaning and extend chain life up to 25,000km. Saving you time - both while you ride and with your regular maintenance - as well as saving you money in the long-run.

At 700 we believe that there is little point in offering lower spec lubes in this process. We use the market leading Silca products and we price to compete! So when it comes to performance - you can be sure of the best.

Prices start from £20 for a single chain
