700 was opened in the summer of 2011 with one goal in mind; helping all road riders from all aspects of the sport furnish their passion with all the advice and equipment they may need. At 700 we believe that whether you are in it to win or simply to enjoy the sport, everything starts with fit and to this end offer bike fitting services to help you optimise your position on the bike,  to minimise the risk of injury and to get the best performance and comfort from your riding.

At 700 we are looking to present the products we stock in their best light; each run of items is given its own space and is never pushed into a corner. Online each product where appropriate is given it’s own in-depth description written by us and photographed in order to best display it’s characteristics and to give you a feeling of what the product would be like if you were to actually touch it. We have tried very hard to pick our brands and products carefully in order to keep our range of products limited to those which firstly fulfill their purpose superbly and secondly offer what we feel is the best choice at each price point. Everything you find on our shelves will have been endorsed by one or another of us and it would not have made it there if we were unable to see its value.

We feel that every customer should have the same exceptional level of service; we want you to be able to draw from our many years of experience both in the bicycle industry and out on the road. Between us we ride thousands of miles every week, some of us as endurance or pleasure riders and others of us who enjoy racing and pushing our physical limits. We all expect our kit to echo our needs and style. Invariably you will be able to find a kindred spirit at 700; somebody who rides in a similar fashion and finds an analogous value in their cycling. Whether looking for your first road bike or seeking some serious hardware to maximise your competitive edge we want you to feel as if you have been given the best advice throughout your purchase and that you have ended up with a bike that suits your specific requirements.

Recent seasons have seen a growing desire for individuality and custom products and we understand that dream bikes should be as individual as you; from geometry to finish. To this end we are continually broadening our range to include more niche brands like Nevi Titanium and Sarto in order to bring you fully customisable options when it comes to your hardware.

If you are looking to broaden your cycling experience we have an associated cycling club with a diverse spectrum of riders and abilities and 700 run numerous cycling holidays and training camps in the Costa Blanca during the year, so you can experience new roads, fantastic climbs and stunning scenery, fully guided and supported.

Product description

Season : 2018
Code : CEY00003.293
Weight : 0.35KG

KOO is the independant eyewear brand of Italian helmet manufacturer, Kask. Koo's genesis in 2017 came with a single offering in the shape of the OPEN, a full frame sunglass that featured an innovative arm folding system and optically precise lenses from German market leader Carl Zeiss.

It is fair to say that they became immediately popular with staff and customers alike at 700 and indeed out-sold Oakley during the 2017 season. For 2018, KOO introduce the new OPEN CUBE or OPEN3

The OPEN CUBE is a half frame version of the OPEN and the main reason for their being is the enhanced ventilation that they offer. Perfect for riders working at higher outputs or in hotter climates and who experience lens fogging. They also lend themselves better to off-road applications such as mountainbiking and cyclocross.

The Koo Open Cube, aside from being a half-frame and thus more ventilated by design, feature 2 additional venting ports in the lens. Firstly at the sides where the lens is separate from the frame and secondly at the top of the lens to allow improved venting from continual airflow through the lens. While this ventilation certainly keeps the glasses from fogging up, it in no way disturbs the eye at high speeds.

Like the OPEN before it, the Open Cube is 100% manufactured in Italy - something KOO and Kask are extremely proud of and a facet of development that allows the company to adapt and refine design swiftly, while maintaining extremely high build quality and consistency.

The KOO OPEN CUBE sunglasses are designed to integrate perfectly with Kask helmets but - thanks to well thought out design and with the use of a helmet in mind - they fit beautifully with all the helmets we've tried. They stand apart from other eyewear brands thanks to several innovative features that make them extremely versatile and intuitive. The most obvious of these features are the micrometric angle-adjustable arms which unfold in stages. The adjustability of the arms gives the rider three positions that set the angle of the lens on the face. This 'Airflow Active System' is particularly useful when climbing for example. As the airflow over the glasses reduces, the liklihood of fogging increases so by pivoting the lens down, the rider can increase airflow while maintaining eye coverge.

When not in use the arms flip all the way around so that the glasses very easily stuff into your jersey pocket or seatpack. Even the nose pads swivel to allow a more cusomized fit on the face. The Koo OPEN CUBE feature a replaceable lens system and simple deformation of the frame pops the lens from the housing at the temples and around the bridge.

KOO have not compromised in the construction of the OPEN CUBE glasses and this is immediately evident in the hand, from the action of the quality pivot and the simple lens replacement mechanism. The lenses themselves are made by renowned manufacturer Carl Zeiss whose quality is a benchmark in the optic industry.

The lenses come in three new colors with Infrared designed specifically for road (not unlike the Oakley Prizm system), an all-round Ultra White and a Red Mirror better suited to Off-Road. A photocromatic lens is available separately.

The KOO OPEN CUBE are available in 2 sizes : Small and Medium - though for most, even those of us with little heads (56cm or so), the Medium gives great vision and wrapped-fit. All come supplied with a soft and hard case and a clear lens is provided with each pair for use in low light conditions. As you might expect from the Kask fold, the OPEN CUBE are available in numerous colourways to match your helmet, or your socks, eyes, water bottle.......

Size Guide

Available in 2 sizes : Small and Medium. We find that for most (head sizes down to around 56cm), the Medium sits well and offers excellent coverage without appearing overly big.

Where possible, we always recommend trying on cycling eyewear contextually - in other words, stick a helmet on when you do!

The pro's opinion

I love these. I've had a pair of OPEN for a year and they've had the most use of all of my many, many pairs of sunglasses (I'm an eyewear whore). The OPEN CUBE now give me the option of a more racy piece courtesy of the improved venting and lower weight (just 30g) which is ideal for riding in Spain as I quite often do. Fit, comfort and use in the world are all impeccable as is the build quality - as you might expect from a company who make products with real passion and with a clear purpose.

Only giving 4 stars as haven’t had a chance to give them a full try out over a few weeks but initial fit and quality are great. Also short arms means no issues with protone helmet.
