Gusto GTG ELITE ULTRA Gravel Bike : Jet Black

Season:2027

Brand:Gusto

Code:GGTG-ELITEU-BLK-

Entry-level is a label of disservice for the Gusto GTG Elite Ultra. Employing the same frame as the Pro TE, the same carbon wheels, the same integrated cockpit and the same carbon seatpost. What you give up is electronic shifting. What you gain is a second chainring.

That is an argument, not a compromise.

A 46/30 chainset with an 11-36 cassette puts the gears closer together than any single ring can manage, which is exactly what you want on the long tarmac drags that join the good bits of a British gravel route together. The top gear is taller than either 1x build manages. The bottom is within a whisker of theirs. You give up almost nothing at the outliers and gain a lot in the middle, where you actually spend your time. This is particularly if the weighting of your riding is 50:50 or more road than gravel - or if you are considering the GTG as a road bike predominantly, something easily achieved with a tyre swap.

Mechanical earns its place too. Nothing to charge, nothing to pair, and a gear cable costs a few quid and can be sorted at the roadside with a multitool. Anyone heading somewhere remote already knows why that matters.

The frame is Gusto's I.L.C. carbon: Japanese Torayca fibre with Innegra woven through it to damp vibration, and it is the reason this bike feels like a great deal more money than it is. Tall front end, short reach, short stays, and 50mm of tyre clearance so you can run enough rubber to stop worrying about the surface.

Tube type Goodyear Connectors are fitted, with an R:Shield belt under the centre tread and anti-cut layers in the sidewalls. Tough first, quick second, which on a bike meant for long mixed days is the right way round. If you wish to upspec, then the wheels they sit on are Tubeless ready and just require a tyre choice for your usage.

Gusto's G1 integrated carbon one-piece bar arrives sized to the frame, 380mm on an XS or S and 400mm on a medium or large, with the stem length moving with it.

Triple mounts, a UDH hanger, internal routing, ANP paint, UCI approval and a lifetime frameset warranty. At £2,249 that is the best value in the range and arguably the best value mechanical Gravel bike on the market.

Pearl White, Jet Black, Team Gold or Forest Green.
