Berk Composites

Berk Composites, officially known as Berk-Vehovar Composites, is a Slovenian company specialising in high-performance bicycle components made from carbon composites.

Founded with a mission to blend lightness and comfort in cycling gear, the brand is focused on custom, ultralight products that meet the highest standards. Their expertise in carbon fibre technology extends to a range of products, including seatposts, integrated saddle/seatpost combinations, bicycle frames, and accessories; but the core of their production revolves around handmade carbon saddles.

At the heart of Berk's offerings is their saddle lineup, which prioritises power transfer through stability, comfort through balanced flex, durability, and rider-specific ergonomics through advanced carbon construction. The flagship Lupina series includes multiple variants tailored to different riding styles and body types:

Lupina Short Models: These shorter saddles - typically around 247mm in length - feature Innegra reinforcement in the carbon shell for enhanced flex and vibration damping, making them ideal for riders who maintain a fixed position. A T-shaped nose reduces friction, while a slightly curved rear provides stability;

Lupina Monocoque: Monocoque (one piece construction) saddles offer lightweight, comfortable platforms, designed for road cycling and are available with or without a central cutout to relieve perineal pressure; they feature a curved rear for support and are suited for extended endurance efforts.

Lupina Monocoque GRAVEL: Similar in shape to the road variant, the Gravel shell features a closed construction for additional strength and minimal additional weight.

Complementing the Lupina are specialised models like the Lipa 133, a short saddle for narrower hips with a T-shaped nose for reduced friction and solid stability; the Ploh 143, a versatile V-shaped option with a larger sitting area suitable for road, gravel, or MTB; and the Dila 140, an ultralight choice for time trial, triathlon, and aggressive road positions, boasting a wider nose and front area for enhanced support.

All saddles are crafted from premium carbon fibre, often with options for padding (synthetic leather, Alcantara, or natural leather) or exposed carbon finishes, and incorporate oval 7x9mm rails for compatibility with most seatposts. Weights are impressively low - around 79g for select 3K carbon variants - with a maximum rider limit of 100kg and all meet ISO 4210 certification for safety and durability.

Customisation is a hallmark, allowing choices in colours, materials, and padding, backed by a 2-year warranty and repair services for handmade longevity.
"Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives."
