2026 Gen 5 Cannondale SuperSix EVO : LAB71 : FRAMESET : RAW Black

Season:2026

Brand:Cannondale

Code:CANC1102GU10

The Cannondale SuperSix EVO Gen 5 LAB71 Frameset represents the apex of the brand's road race engineering, utilising ultralight carbon construction to deliver a claimed frame weight of 755g (56cm) and fork weight of 378g, making it one of the lightest disc-brake-compatible framesets available. This fifth-generation evolution refines the platform with subtle aerodynamic enhancements, a more aggressive geometry, and optimised compliance, all while maintaining the EVO's hallmark balance of speed, efficiency, and handling for competitive riders.

Frame Construction and Materials

The frameset is constructed from Cannondale's top-tier Ultralight Series 0 Carbon, a high-modulus composite with refined layups that prioritise strength-to-weight ratio and precise fibre orientation. The LAB71 designation signifies the most advanced carbon construction, previously reserved for professional teams like EF Education, incorporating smarter material distribution to trim excess without sacrificing structural integrity. Key technical features include a BSA 68mm threaded bottom bracket for reliable power transfer, 12x142mm thru-axle rear spacing, flat-mount disc brake compatibility, an integrated seat binder, and SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) for enhanced durability and parts compatibility as well as the shifting benefits associated with the standard.
The frame supports fully internal cable routing via the Delta steerer system, which integrates seamlessly with Cannondale's SystemBar Road cockpits to minimise frontal area and improve serviceability. It's designed exclusively for electronic shifting groupsets, eliminating mechanical compatibility to streamline the build process and reduce weight.

Fork and Integration

The matching Ultralight Series 0 Carbon fork features a 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" Delta steerer for precise steering input, with size-specific offsets (55mm for 44-54cm frames, 45mm for 56-61cm) to ensure consistent handling across the size range. It includes 12x100mm thru-axle spacing, flat-mount disc compatibility, and internal routing, contributing to the frameset's clean aesthetic and aerodynamic profile. Updates to the fork crown and head tube transitions refine airflow, with a slimmer design that reduces drag penalties at the front end where gains are most impactful.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamic refinements are a core focus of the Gen 5 EVO, with tube shapes derived from truncated NACA airfoil profiles optimised through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and wind-tunnel testing. These changes yield measurable drag reductions across the yaw spectrum, equivalent to approximately four watts of savings at typical racing speeds, without adding material or compromising the frame's lightweight ethos. The elongated head tube and reprofiled tubes enhance real-world efficiency on flats and rolling terrain, while accessories like the included Cannondale Gripper Aero Bottles and CarbonGrip Aero Cages further streamline the hydration system for minimal turbulence.

Geometry and Handling

The Gen 5 introduces a more racy geometry with a 10mm reduction in stack height across all sizes compared to the Gen 4, lowering the front end for a more aggressive riding position suited to competitive racing. Cannondale's Proportional Response size-specific engineering extends to custom carbon layups and tube shapes, ensuring optimal stiffness, power transfer, and handling regardless of rider size. New 50cm and 52cm sizes replace the previous 51cm for finer increments in smaller frames. This setup blends nimble cornering with rock-solid stability, making the bike feel effortless and fully controllable in high-speed descents and technical sections. The EVO's sigmnature poised, predictable handling instills confidence, allowing riders to focus on performance rather than bike management.

Ride Quality and Compliance

Ride quality remains a standout attribute, with the Gen 5's enhanced smoothness through softened tube radii, an eliminated seatstay shelf, and a compliant D-shaped Cannondale C1 Aero 40 Carbon seatpost (365mm length, with 0mm offset for smaller sizes or 15mm for larger). The frameset offers ample stiffness for sprints and hard efforts while providing comfort on climbs and rough roads, feeling fast and smooth even on winter-damaged tarmac. The new EVO is sharper, with more agile response under load, it benefits from improved front-end connectivity and tactile feedback for better road feel and cornering playfulness. The SuperSix EVO LAB71 carries speed well through corners and rolling terrain, maintaining poise on descents, and delivers a connected, efficient ride that translates to faster times on familiar routes. Tyre clearance up to 32mm (with 4mm side clearance) allows for wider, lower-pressure tyres, further boosting compliance and grip without altering the race-oriented character.

Additional Features and Compatibility

The frameset includes titanium seatpost hardware for durability and corrosion resistance, integrated 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" headset and operates as a unified system integration that amplifies every efficiency gain.

The Gen 5 LAB71 Frameset evolves the SuperSix EVO into a zero-compromise versatile all-rounder that's lighter, more aero, and more responsive, ideal for everything, anywhere : breakaways, climbs, and podium pursuits.

Dream builds start here. Ultralight Gen 5 LAB71 Series 0 carbon frame and fork with Delta steerer integration and Cannondale C1 Aero 40 Ti seatpost. Ultra-low mass, size-specific layup, and race geometry chosen by EF Pro Cycling. When nothing but the best will do.
