Q36.5 Adventure Winter Bib Tights in BLACK

Season:AW20

Brand:Q36-5

Code:014X.

As with all Q36.5 cycling apparel, the company have taken no short-cuts with their new Adventure range. While many may modify an existing product, tweaking it for a new task or audience in order to minimise delay to market and -of course - costs; Q36.5 do not. They understand that specific terrains, environments and riding styles have a bearing on material selection and present unique challenges to the rider and therefore unique demands on the clothing equipment deployed to deal with those specific conditions.

The Adventure Range is a concise selection of clothing that has been developed from the ground-up to meet the needs of riders taking the trails less ridden; for the growing number of Gravel and Adventure riders who are focused as much on exploration and fun as they are on performance.

It is equipment designed for all riders, Globetrotters, rather than being race-oriented and yet it is unrestrained in functionality. Low volume, protective and low weight, it cleverly registers the external environment and manages the internal micro-climate between rider and clothing, to deliver perfect comfort - both in terms of fit and function - and protection from the environment.

Notably, while they have already taken steps in their core range of clothing and as is the drive from the company, the entire Adventure Equipment range has an Eco-sustainable approach. All the pieces in the range are made in line with the company’s E2 approach : 100% made in Italy for a reduced carbon footprint and manufactured from organic yarns or fabrics derived from recycling and reclamation.

The Adventure Bib Tight is designed to work in a host of terrains and environmental conditions and is made from 100% recycled micro-fleece fabric with a durable weather resistant treatment. Called UF Knit FleeceEco, it is a double face construction that delivers a robust water repellent external face and an insulating thermal, micro-fleece inner face, for warmth and comfort.

Like the Dottore X bib short, the Adventure tight employs Q36.5’s C-Interface. The crotch area has a forgiving Anti-stress cut and comfort is augmented by removing the central seam so common in other bib shorts and that often results in discomfort. The new cut replicates the contact surface of the saddle and is made with a UF Hybrid Shell fabric (like the Hybrid Que jersey) that adapts naturally to the different typology of saddles and offers improved durability and better thermoregulation thanks to the conductive properties of the silver thread.

For additional durability as may be required on off-road trails, Q36.5 have introduced an Extra Value Power Mesh fabric insert on the Quadriceps and Knees. Should the worst happen, these additional inserts (that also serve as pockets) act as a second layer of extra protection and move over the fabric to avoid skin abrasion in the event of a crash or spill.

While the tight’s construction is entirely made from new fabrics specifically engineered for their designated task, there are some common elements shared with other pieces in the Q36.5 line-up. The Lumbar support panel is a key one and delivers lower back and leg support throughout the pedal stroke. Like the Termica range of Bib tights, the new Adventure Bib Tights feature the Super Moulded Insert, a light and breathable pad designed for all-round support and supreme comfort regardless of where you sit on the saddle and for how long.

Similarly to the Termica, the new tights also feature carefully placed reflective inserts that deliver highly visible, yet discreet safety on the calves and these are now more comfortable than ever with a new laser-cut, raw finish.

If you are a keen roadie and a rider who also likes to take to the gravel, then these could well be the choice for your winter riding. Their versatile design makes them the ideal choice for both disciplines and environments with the knowledge that they are bound to keep you warm and comfortable for years to come.

  • The new Orbea Orca line-up is quite possibly the most balanced range of road bikes available. Thanks to the Orca's ability to deliver a complete ride that yields agile handling akin to most all-out lightweight premium race bikes - all the while being close in weight to dedicated climbing bikes, as stiff as many top level sprint machines and as comfortable as any endurance bike. Orcas deliver this rounded performance with plenty of tyre clearance for the roughest of surfaces, including forays onto dirt or gravel.

The Orca sits right alongside the Orca Aero in the Orbea range range; borrowing many of its aero features and much of its bottom bracket stiffness for power transfer, but with lower weight, greater levels of comfort and larger tyre clearances.

The Orca ride feel is built on the core concept that a comfortbale rider remains a fresher rider. This principle delivers a bike which - as a consequence - leads to greater speed, over longer distances, and allows for riding over rougher roads, all while keeping you performing at your best.

On top of the ride quality and performance elements, the Orbea Orca is both practical and more customisable than any competitor's bike – with custom paint at no extra cost on most models.

The Orbea Orca aims to be the ultimate bike for all performance-minded riders that are looking to take on a full range of real world riding conditions. Whether amateur or competing in the upper echelons of the sport; on the flat or up in the mountains; on short, hard efforts or all-day epics, on any surface that qualifies as a road. Employing the latest developments in road bike technology Orbea have created a stunning all-round package for real-world riders.

    The Range

The Orca is available in three variants, all sharing the same geometry and design philosiophy. Each features differening carbon tubing types, subtly different aero profiling, and different component options; offering a range of price points to meet all budgets, with slightly different riding characteristics to meet different rider priorities.

    ORCA

The Orca’s frame is constructed from high modulus Orca OMR carbon fibre, while the fork has OMR carbon fibre blades bonded to a strong alloy steerer. The frame has slightly thicker more resilient tube walls than the superlight Orca Limited, making it a little more resistant to stone chips and daily commuting abuses with a resiliance needed for regular riders that aren't necessarily looking to race. With clearance for tyres up to 35mm, the frameset offers true all-road capability.

The handlebars and stem feature wind-cheating internal cable routing, while the seatpost has a standard 27.2mm round section, offering great reliability, practicality and easy upgrade options.

The all-new Orca is 10% more compliant than the previous Orca OMR Team and far stiffer in the power transfer areas, as well as lighter, than the 2020 Orca OME (standard modulus) frameset.

    ORCA TEAM

With exactly the same frame construction as the Orca, the Team version benefits from a full carbon fork for lighter weight and improved responsiveness. The new Orca Team offers 5% lower weight than the previous Orca OMR, with the same lateral stiffness for optimal power transfer, and vertical compliance - and by extension comfort - increased by up to 10%.

The component levels are a little higher than in the standard Orca, again offering lower weights and extra refinement.

Full custom paint is a no-cost-option on all ORCA TEAM models, using Orbea’s easy to use MyO program which we are happy to guide you through. MyO also allows you to change some of the components to dial in the bike specification for your specific riding requirements

    ORCA LIMITED

The Orca Limited’s frame and fork are constructed from Ultra High Modulus OMX carbon fibres for lower weight. The finer, less elastic fibres also add more stiffness to key areas of the frame for optimum responsiveness, with only the slightest reduction in vertical compliance. The Orca Limited can accommodate, and has been optimised for tyres up to 32mm, delivering high comfort levels in an all-out performance machine.

Components are at the premium level, and the seatpost moves to a proprietary truncated aerofoil shape. The frame tubing profiles also offer enhanced aerodynamics over the OMR models, with the fork being more fully aero-integrated into the downtube.

As with the Orca Team, full custom MyO paint is a no-cost option on all Limited models.

    Sizing Information

We recommend purchasing and wearing your Q36.5 garment ‘true to size’ - if you are usually a Medium, purchase a Medium!

Please be aware that certain products, such as the Dottore X bibshort and L1 Pinstripe X jersey are available in LONG versions. For the Bibshorts, this is a 2cm increase in leg length and a 1-1.5cm increase in bib strap length. For the jerseys, this is an increase in length of the torso by 2cm - to better accommodate taller riders and those with relatively long torsos.

Exceptions to this are rare but recent style and cut changes to the patterned jerseys in the Q36.5 range have yielded some minor size changes. The original patterned R1 jerseys (eg Vaccaboia) that featured a Raglan sleeve cut, have now evolved into the G1 that features a new anatomical pre-shaped sleeve design for superior ergonomics. While the fit overall is improved, these G1 jerseys I find to be slightly shorter and a smidge tighter. If you are between sizes or already borderline on a size (close to it being too small), you may wish to size up one. Similarly, if you are not quite 'racing snake' and the size chart suggests you are a particular size - if you are close to the upper most extreme of that measure - you may wish to size up (it's how it works for me!)

The new R2 Jersey range is marginally more accommodating than the G1 but in most cases not enough to warrant a change in size - we recommend sticking to your 'normal' jersey sizing.

When trying on a Q36.5 garment for the first time please keep in mind that cut and fit is designed for on the bike comfort and performance and the user may feel a very minor degree of strain (eg. in the shoulder and chest area of the jersey or the bib short braces) when standing upright. When on the bicycle in a riding position this feeling will literally disappear and be replaced by excellent ease of movement, comfort and stability.

Please Note: Many men's garments are also suitable for women. Q36.5 produce an XXS and XS in many Men's pieces aimed specifically at female riders.
