2027 Dogma X with Dura Ace Di2 and Princeton GRIT 4540 in Jade Eclipse

Season:2027

Brand:Pinarello

Code:C2259277182-J121

There has long been the need to deliver top-end performance to the masses. As much as many of us would love to ride the Pinarello Dogma F - even if we are disciplined enough to keep ourselves in shape - not all of us are built the same.

I'm a perfect example, and an ex-Dogma F rider. I have a build much like most women: long legs and relatively short torso. While this has been of great benefit to my sock and stocking modelling career, my increasingly inflexible back married to the ever more aggressive Dogma F series' frames has seen me shun the marque in favour of more upright and shorter frames in recent years. Indeed, had I known about the advent of the X back in 2023, I may have pressed pause on my then purchase.

The DOGMA X is a different kind of Dogma — not a step down, but a more intelligent and sophisticated expression of what performance looks like for a broader range of riders. And with the 2027 2nd generation, Pinarello have gone further still, rebuilding the platform from the ground up across carbon, rear triangle architecture, and aerodynamics simultaneously. This is not only the bike they made for riders who perhaps would compromise the set-up of an F in order to 'make it fit', it is the bike they made for riders who want everything the F delivers and a wider definition of the roads on which they can deliver it.

For a long time, the cycling industry operated on a quiet assumption: that accommodation and performance were in tension - that building a frame to fit more riders, or to absorb more road noise, meant accepting less speed. This was largely a fair reading of what the market had produced. Compliant grades of carbon or more flexible frame architecture did, in practice, give ground on outright stiffness and lateral precision. The category that emerged from these choices became known by its limits as much as its strengths.

It has taken over a decade for a manufacturer to really consider how to maximally drive both fit and performance simultaneously — to understand that tyre technology, frame architecture, and geometry can together produce something that is less of a step down from the race platform and more simply an option beside it. A side step. And that is effectively what a DOGMA X is. A fit option. An all-road performance option. It remains quintessentially DOGMA, and most definitely Pinarello. Fausto insists.

The MY27 Dogma X now runs M40X carbon - the same fibre layup introduced on the Dogma F in 2025 and, in Pinarello's own words, the most advanced carbon fibre frame currently on the market. The material distinction that once separated the two models no longer exists. Both frames begin from the same foundation.

What separates them is geometry, rear triangle architecture, and intent. That the Dogma X now carries the same carbon as the Dogma F is not a small thing - it is the clearest possible signal of how seriously Pinarello regard the X's position in the range. The geometry argument for the X remains exactly as compelling as it was at launch. A 53cm Dogma X is 3.9mm shorter in reach and 15.4mm taller in stack than the equivalent Dogma F - numbers that, on paper, look modest and, on the bike, change the entire character of a long day in the saddle. The head tube angle runs slacker across the range, the bottom bracket sits 5mm lower, and the chainstays are 14mm longer — producing a front end that is self-stabilising on rough surfaces and at lower speeds without sacrificing precision at race pace.

It isn't however a high-modulus sofa, it is still a rapid race machine, just one that we can all get on board with. There is a need for it as well. There is a need for this as well.

In recent years we have seen a trend towards maximum stack and short stems - both of which negatively affect handling and control - often against the advice of bike fitters when consumers are dead-set on a specific bike. This is born out by the numbers: taking only Pinarello stems sold online, we are moving far higher numbers of 80 and 90mm stems than the historically popular 100 to 120mm. To back this up, Pinarello UK are selling significanty more short Talon Ultra bar/stem combos as customers try to get comfortable on the more aggressive and race focused Dogma F.

The Dogma X solves the problem. Top-flight race pedigree and performance - in a shorter and taller geo. With eleven sizes - 43cm through to 62cm - very few riders cannot find a correctly proportioned frame rather than compensating on an F.

Along with the more widely accessible fit, the MY27 introduces significant changes to the rear triangle and the front end simultaneously. The X-Stays have been reengineered as X-Stays 2.0. The concept is the same - twin carbon spar seatstays diverging from the seat cluster, tracing independent arcs to the rear dropout. What is new is that the attachment point at the seat cluster is now lower, and the four connection points are positioned to disperse road vibrations more evenly before any of that energy reaches the saddle. The lower linkage specifically reduces rebound - the controlled return of a deflected stay - producing a more composed ride on consecutive rough inputs: road joints, broken tarmac, anything that would produce a repetitive chattering sensation through the seat on a stiffer frame. The stays remain the thinnest Pinarello have used on any production road bike. Lateral stiffness - the property that matters for power transfer and cornering precision - is preserved through the geometry of the arcs themselves. Compliance and stiffness continue to coexist, now more effectively than before.

At the front, the 2027 Dogma X receives a comprehensive aerodynamic rebuild. The headtube has been redesigned around an elliptical cross-section - eTiCR - with a reduced frontal width and a completely new headset using differentiated bearing races in line with the Dogma F, wider at the base and narrower at the top. The thru axle thread is now hidden inside the fork leg behind the fork flap, removing the last external protrusion from the front end.

The downtube is entirely new: narrower in section and tapered along its length, it reduces drag and increases lateral stiffness simultaneously. Front-end solidity on the latest Dogma X is perceptibly different to the previous generation, and the aerodynamics are measurably improved.

When it comes to balancing speed and control on varying terrain, tyre clearance is king. The Dogma X retains it's generous 35mm clearnace offereing the maximum useful clearance for a road performance frame. As with all Dogma before it, the X is fundamentally Pinarello. The ride, while broader in range than the F, is essentially the same. Racy, agile, balanced and stable to boot. Dogma X is everything you have always wanted in a dream bike - and now it arrives with the same carbon as the race platform, a more refined rear triangle, and a more aerodynamic front end. Accessible without compromise.

At launch in July 2027 there are 3 colours available with a selection of builds. Frames are released in September.

All builds employ Princeton CarbonWorks Grit 4540 - the perfect compliment to the X platform, and either a Sram Red AXS 2x12 wireless groupset or Shimano Dura Ace 2x12 Di2 Groupset.
