2027 SEKA Spear RDC Frameset in Chronos

Season:2027

Brand:Seka

Code:SE-SPEARRDC-CH

SEKA Spear RDC

RDC stands for Racing Day Combatant. Same mould as the Spear Standard. Same geometry. Same Wind Eye. Same fork, seatpost, and Rapier handlebar included. The difference is what the carbon is made of — and in carbon frame engineering, the specification of the fibre is where the real performance gap lives.

What the RDC carbon actually means

The Spear Standard uses a high-performance carbon layup that includes pitch-based ultra-high-modulus fibres alongside TeXtreme and transitional structural fibres. The RDC increases the concentration of those pitch-based fibres — specifically DIALEAD PITCH 65T and PITCH 80T from Mitsubishi Chemical — in every critical stress zone. PITCH 65T has 2.1 times the elastic modulus of Toray T1000; PITCH 80T has 2.5 times the modulus of T1100. More of these fibres, placed precisely where the frame needs them, means more stiffness per gram than the Standard can achieve. Additional TeXtreme at 20g/m² reinforces the surface layers, and PMI aerospace foam filling is refined to its finest iteration in the RDC's wall sections.

The result: 685g in size M unpainted — 95g lighter than the Standard — with a 5% stiffness advantage over the previous-generation Exceed RDC and a 14.5% better stiffness-to-weight ratio. A painted Shadow Black RDC weighs 729g ±35g. For context, the Pinarello Dogma F is claimed at 690g at twice the price.

The ride

When designing the Spear and Spear RDC, SEKA specifically wanted to arrive in the same handling envelope as the Tarmac SL8. Independently confirmed by Cyclingnews, the Spear rides with the same balanced, responsive character that makes the SL8 the reference it is, while delivering wind-tunnel-measured aerodynamic performance that places it ahead of the SL8 in drag, and a 685g RDC frameset weight that sits below it. For a lot less money.

The Spear RDC is a more responsive and tautly engaging machine than the Standard. On climbs it feels immediately lighter underfoot — the kind of frame that responds to surges and accelerations with noticeable precision. The playful character that defines the Spear platform is present here: the geometry rewards active handling in corners, and the Wind Eye's vertical compliance keeps the rear end from becoming harsh, even at race pace. Indeed, descending (as well as handling in general) is dramatically enhanced, in part because the compliance works with rather than against speed on deteriorating road surfaces and in corners.

This is a frame that suits riders who engage actively with their bike — who want responsiveness and climbing ability in equal measure alongside the aerodynamic package. At its price point, with the Rapier handlebar included, nothing from an established European or American brand competes with the complete specification on offer.

Platform

Wind Eye aerodynamics, 6W drag saving, CdA 0.3820m², True-One-Piece Moulding, 5+2 non-linear geometry — as detailed in the Spear Collection.

Wind tunnel data from Silverstone SSEH with AeroCoach across 280,000+ data points; independently confirmed by Cyclingnews as class-leading for an all-round road frameset.
