Founded as a challenger brand in 2013, SunGod has grown into a globally recognised performance eyewear business, that is performance-driven, community-built, and sustainable to the core. SunGod eyewear is worn by elite athletes and teams around the world, and SunGod’s partners - who range from World Tour cycling team INEOS Grenadiers, to iconic mainstream sports teams like the McLaren F1 Team - prove the performance and popularity of their products at the very highest level. As a certified B Corp and 1% For The Planet member, with carbon neutral products and operations, SunGod has built a business model that puts people, planet, and profit on equal footing. Their mission is forcing positive change across the eyewear industry.
In line with 700's greater focus on sustainability and prioritising brands and products that deliver real USPs not just lip-service, SunGod was an easy addition to our portfolio.
Constructed with longevity in mind ALL SunGod eyewear comes with a lifetime guarantee and are designed to be durable and repairable so as to avoid adding to the 10s of millions of pairs of sunglassesthrown awayannually. Each piece features tech and approaches specifically engineered to reduce waste and minimise detrimental environmental impact.
Ultra-flexible TR90 frames flex instead of snapping, Pop-Lock screwless hinges reduce materials and eliminate weak points for longer life; and triple-layer lens coatings create longer lasting lenses, while capsule designs facilitate easy repair.
As a certified B-Corp and a bone-fide innovator, they are committed to both their cause and the quality of the eyewear they make. Their goal: See Better.
The key to good eyewear is the lens. While you might think that obvious - lens technology has been stagnant for decades. Since it's first use in the 1970's, Polycarbonate has remained the go-to material, and manufacturers have focused on selling you design rather than performance. Yes - this is sweeping and there are degrees (and we've always been performance forward in our choices) - but it is essentially the case.
SunGod's 8KO Nylon lenses change this.
This precision-engineered 2mm material is SunGod's answer to an industry that has prioritised 'eye-catching' over optical performance.
Why Nylon?
Chromatic aberration, measured by Abbe Value, refers to how much light gets distorted when it passes through a material - how clear a material is. The Abbe Value of SunGod's 8KO nylon lens is 45, which is up to 70% clearer than industry-standard polycarbonate lenses, and, scientifically, is clearer than the surface of the human eye.
8KO Nylon (transparent polyamide) is lighter than polycarbonate without compromising on strength or durability. In fact, it is even more shatterproof, taking eye protection up a level and offering greater flexibility in the case of crashes. As with all SunGod lenses, 8KO still provides 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Essentially 8KO is a lens that’s clearer, lighter and stronger - just better!
SunGod's focus on sustainability is backed by impartial certification that EACH PAIR is carbon neutral, and their Lifetime warranty. If yours break - or if you break them - SunGod will repair them; so you can buy safe in the knowledge they will last and that you are doing your part for the environment
